Player Ratings So Far (Goalkeepers)

Well, my uni has shut its doors now due to this virus. So I've got a lot of time on my hands. No football at all so content is at a near standstill. So I'm going to do a series of articles throughout the week. Rating players from each Position in the entire squad.

Right now I've got that bit out of the way. Time to go through the NUFC goalkeepers and sum them up. Finishing off with a rating out of 10.

Martin Dúbravka

Verdict: This lad has been nothing short of absolutely unreal this season. The amount of points he's been a massive part in us gaining has been unbelievable this season. I'd honestly go on a limb and say if it weren't for Dubravka, we'd be in the bottom 3 this season. Ever since his debut against Manchester United just over 2 years ago. He's been an amazing goalkeeper. Definitely the best since Shay Given.

He has had 1 or 2 mistakes this year but other than that he's been very consistent and with a long term deal recently signed as well. We've got a brilliant goalkeeper for the long term.

Best moment: He made 2 world-class saves away to Wolves earlier this season. I still don't know how he saved either!

Rating: 10/10

Karl Darlow

Verdict: I've got to be honest. I've always liked Karl Darlow. Always rated him highly. In terms of penalty shot-stopping, I'd put him up there with the best Newcastle gk's But I'm not sure whether it's lack of match fitness or just a decrease in performance but in the rarity, he's been called upon, he's been lacklustre, to be honest. Conceding 5 goals in 4 games. All against lower league opposition too. The free-kick he conceded vs Oxford too. Dubravka saves that comfortably for me. But Darlow fell short. I rate Darlow as a number 2 goalkeeper at NUFC. But nothing more.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if he was away in the summer. As he's a fantastic championship goalkeeper.

Best moment: clean sheet at home to Oxford in the fa Cup….

Rating: 3/10

Freddie Woodman (on Loan at Swansea)

I thought given he's played this season it is definitely worth putting Woodman in this list. As there is a possible chance he's our number 2 goalkeeper next season so it's worth noting how well he's done.

Freddie has been really good for the Welsh side this season. 37 games, 11 clean sheets, 45 conceded.

He's apart of a Massive fight for the playoffs. 6th to 13th separated by 3 points. With the Swans fighting in those spots he'll be looking to carry through his early-season form. But he's done well. Always a keen eye to see how he gets on. Good luck for the rest of the season Freddie!

Best moment: penalty saves vs Adam Armstrong this season.

That's my take on the Goalkeepers that have played this season. In the next part of this short series, I'll be going through the Right backs. Let me know if you're enjoying these articles.
