Trust me it's not as easy as you think. It's almost a full time job, on top of your already full time job. You will often see me around the work place working on NFTV on my paid break or popping out on lunch to film. It's a mad life to be in.
Imagine having to push seven other people out of their comfort zones to produce written, audio and video content for the general public, almost all of our group have had no public exposure before Newcastle Fans TV, except Eisha who was already in the public eye. To be that person that has to at times push the boundaries in aid to get the best out of NFTV, for them to be annoyed at me.
As a group we have disagreed on many things, from myself, current members to even ex members which has led Newcastle Fans TV to strive to the next level. We've came from one person to a team core of 8 dedicated Toon fans, going from zero followers to almost 60,000 followers across our platforms.
We've had our trolls, we've had and continue to receive praise. It's become almost a full-time job for me, for the group for example, someone can turn up for 30 mins recording and not be seen for a week, I'm at the very minimum 30-40 hours a week - I understand I have to be, however it affects my sleep, my relationships with loved ones & my social life.
So why do it I hear you ask? Well... I've always wanted to express my feelings on football and Newcastle United, YouTube was the platform best to express that since I never had a degree in sport. I've learned to how to carefully edit - self taught, produce, present, publish - the list is endless - I'd love another version of me to take off the load but I love what I do but sometimes it's a lot for one person to run two YouTube channels, the YouTube membership, thumbnails, Instagram, half of Twitter & a little bit on Facebook. On top of that I arrange the filming, administrate our finances & take on requests from brands/companies, plus building a high quality stream which can take 2-3 hours to make - it's a lot like I say, I love it.
That's not to say we don't have grafters in our team, we definitely do - which is fantastic some of our social media is catered for by those hard working individuals who have the passion to express their opinions on NUFC news via our platforms, they also chip in here and there for our YouTube platform.
What is extremely tough is all the video edits I have to do, I won't settle for basic simple videos - I hate those types of videos with a passion, a real hate, I want our viewer to go away enjoying that video they've just watched. NFTV will be bringing in someone to assist us with video editing as I & NFTV really need it.
I always get asked why aren't the others in the group helping you out with that side of the brand, trust me I've tried, that's a question you'd need to ask those individuals. My focus is to get us help & work closely with them. Watch this space on that.
Even now, on the way to Southampton, I'm typing this article up. I don't need to tell you the amount of telling off from the girlfriend, the daughter, the mother (you get the general idea) "put it down" they always say, I do cater for them but it's almost a fine balance between work and play.
You don't do this for money or fame, there's nothing in it unless your views are in regular six figure hits. You do all of this of for a passion you believe in.
