"I made this decision because Newcastle United followed me for a couple of years and were really interested. I had a difficult time in Germany, so this was a great opportunity for me. I’d heard a lot of great stories about Newcastle United, and seen also great images about the fans and the stadium. A lot of great players have played there. My relationship with Alan Pardew was good - he was very convinced of my qualities and wanted to add me to the team.
"For me it was amazing to play in the Premier League for this amazing club. But I wish I could have played more as a striker and have shown my qualities there. It was a tough time because we didn’t perform well as a team and I hate losing. I think for me it was a great experience and I have grown as a person and football player. I enjoyed my time there - the people at the club were amazing and the fans were always supporting us. I don't think the fans saw the best of me. Like I said before, we had a tough time as a team and I couldn’t play in my favorite position. And it only lasted for four months, so that wasn’t a long time either. I’m still very happy I made the step to Newcastle United. At that moment I wished I could have stayed longer at the club to show my qualities as a striker. But I made the right decision to move to PSV Eindhoven after - I had five amazing years there.
